Hello. does any know of a wiper motor that will work in a 53 ford truck converted to 12 volts? Living up here in the great white north, we don't have access to many suppliers. Is there something i can adapt to work?
In my 56 I used a '95 Windstar with the intermittent switch and control box from an 86 Bronco. I did have to modify the wiper motor mounting holes. The 56 wiper motor mounts on the outside of the firewall and if I remember correctly the 53 is inside. Make sure you re-use or modify the new pivot arm to match the length of the 53. Good luck.
dd's, I used a stock Jeep Cherokee motor out of an early '90's Cherokee. The motor assy bolts to the stock '53 linkage with some minor enlarging of the 3 mounting holes. I also used the Cherokee steering column so I maintain my delay wiper features and everything (electrically) is plug and play (sort of). I believe I have some pics of the Cherokee motor mounted to my stock linkage in my gallery. Just another option.
i got a electric motor out of a 55 a few days ago, i am going to put a ballast resistor on the power wire. i figure it will be better than vacuum. i have a 79 f150 motor also but neve was ambitious enough to lay under the dash and let dust fall in my face longer than to swap a few bolts.

In follow up to Cowman's comments on lthe Cherokee/Chrysler wiper motor.... members in my club (SOCP) have fouind that the wiper motor from DOdge Caravans and Plymouth Voyagers from about 1990 on fit with a minor modification as Cowman suggested....i.e. they are plentiful!!!
