95 f150 5.8 4x4. i need a new driver side leaf spring. a guy i work with was looking at my truck and said it had the f250 rear end and was known as a heavy half ton truck. problem is i've never heard of this before. this guy seems to be a walking encyclopedia of ford trucks, he has several, all modified for offroad use. has anyone else heard of this? does this mean i need to order an f250 leaf spring? thanks.
sounds a little strange to me. take a good look at your rear end. i guess maybe somebody could of put in an f250 rear end? but that would mean youd probably have 8 lug rims.
The door jamb label will have the axle code and weight ratings. The 4x4s used a 3" spring vs the 2.5" found on most 4x2 F150s. Some of the half tons did have optional trailer packages. My father's 83 F150 was ordered with a trailer package for 5,000 lbs.

I don't know if Ford made a heavy-half in these years, I know GM made a few in their OBS pickups. Heavy-halfs are usually just a 1/2 ton with the 3/4 ton suspension if I remember right. So higher capacity but still not up to the 3/4 ton capacity.
How many bolts are the wheels? That'll tell you if the axle is 3/4 ton or not as I believe they are all 8 lug, 5 lug will be the 1/2 ton axle. How many leafs are in the pack and how wide are they? That should tell you what sort of leafs the are.
Don't forget that you want to replace the leafs on both sides, otherwise the older side will sit lower.
I still have the original 4-pack springs with a broken leaf on each side. I plan on replacing them with F250 springs and remove the block eventually.
I have a 92 ford with the tow package, that gives it beefed up springs, a stabilizer bar on the rear axle and maybe thats why it has dual shocks up front? But what is with the dual shocks, any body know?
