Has anyone replaced the stock tail light covers with an aftermarket type? I tried the Eurolite but it hits on the bottom and won't allow the pin to seat. Also how about brighter back-up bulbs?
I have the Eurolite's and they did hit but I just hit 'em with a grinder till they fit. The back of the light was real thick there so its not like I had to grind through the back of them to get them on. I got them used on e-bay for $40 - so it wasn't like i could send them back. Figured - what the hang - and it worked out fine. I didn't get the higher output back-up bulbs yet but the Eurolites are noticably brighter when backing up!
I guess it's time for the Dremel tool! It appears to need about a 1/4 inch reduction. My lights were 100 bucks brand new. Still 6o less than most places sell them.
Due to heavy window tint needs in TX I installed / added a receiver mount aux back up lights. System: (2) 55 watt halogens that turn night into day. Even has a toggle behind light box to illuminate while hooking up at night without putting truck in reverse.
Easy install to existing tow / trailer wiring. Less than $100.00.
Available through J.C Whitney, Stull (I think) and other places.
sorry for the late response, been gone. I replaced my tailight covers with TYC Elegante covers (2fast2furious style). I get looks and (good) comments on them all the time. Btw, the backups are much better lit with the clear lens!!
THanks for the info. I found that there is a mold difference in the Eurolite now. I had the older style ind I am getting it replaced with the new light.
