Question Aftermarket taiwan Grill assembly doesnt fit right.

I have had a taiwan made grill headlight bezels and support piece on my truck since the front end got damaged in an accident. It seems to rub the hood when I close it. Ive tried to adjust it but I cant get it to come down anymore. Either the parts are made wrong or the frame shop didnt pull the frame horns down enough. all of the rest of my bodylines look good though. could it be the big plastic core support thing thats wrong? I dont want to go out and find all of the origional ford parts if it wont cure the problem. Its a 94 f150 by the way.

Without a original grill to see if it is an alignment issue due to the damage it is going to be rather diffucult to determine where the problem lies. But "made in Taiwan" tells you alot about the quality or lack of...

If you know anyone that has a 94 or close Ford you could borrow for a couple of hours, you could swap grilles with them for a minute and see how it fits on their's. That would tell you if its your truck or if its the grille.

I know where you are coming from though. I am working on a new grille for my Explorer, and am having to fiberglass it because the pieces do not fit right...

Unfortunately I dont know anyone with the same truck. It looks like I have a worse problem right now, the piston slap is getting so loud it sounds like its going to come through the sid of the block.

I have the Chinese made grill and headlight surrounds too. The headlight surrounds fit fine but the grill sits about 1/4" too high. That's the last time that I'll buy anything but OEM body parts.

Does it cause your hood to not want to shut right?

No, there's still a small gap between the hood and the grill, but the top edge of the grill sits higher than the top edge of the headlight surrounds. Plus, the grill wouldn't sit flush like it should at the bottom, so I had to drill some small holes in the back of it and zip tie it to the core support. I keep saying that I'll go the the junkyard and look for a good OEM grill, but I never get around to it.

I trecked through the junkyard but only found grills and trim worse than my own.

Thats been my experience also with the U-pullit places, so far I have 1 oem headlight bezel that just needs repainted. Ebay is about the cheapest place I know of to come accross that stuff, unless you just happen to run accross someone who's parting out a truck or something.
