I have a 00 F-250 X-cab V10 4x4 with 64k on her. About 6k ago I started getting a front end vibration. I replaced the brakes and cut the rotors, this helped a little bit. I tollerated this but it has gotten horrible, it doesn't happen all the time but when it does it's not annoying, and usually happens only when breaking from 45mph and above. I just replaced the trackbar, and this helped a great amount, but I still feel a slight vibration occasionally when breaking from 45 & above. I do know that the auto locking hubs are stuck in the locked position (vacume leak I was told just waitingon the spare cash flow for the manual conversion kit). I am suspecting the shocks and steering stabalizer. Any other opinions are greatly appreciated.
Usually the only thing that will give a vibration during braking is rotors out of whack...I don't see why the track rod should make any difference unless the original was loose making the rotor problem worse...The rears warp really bad also...Get new rotors for the front and check the rears...
Check your ball joints and wheel bearing/hub assm. I was getting A vibration at speed and under braking. I found those problems. 01 f350 v10 4x4 w/ 62,000 miles
Yes the truck is used, but the vibration was only mild when I bought it figuring it was the brake rotors that were warped. I did cut the rotors and replace the pads. That helped for a while, now it's back with an attitude. I just replaced the track bar and that helped a little bit. If I get a chance this weekend I will be pulling the hubs and checking the bearing and ball joints.
turning the rotors just makes the problem worse...
I know - too big a truck and too much stress on them...
had the dealer turn them twice and didn't help...
they replaced them and no problems in a LONG while...
but I did stress to them (in case they didn't know) to make sure to torque the nuts equally and evenly to not put any side stresses on the rotors... that's what causes the most problems with ANY brakes.. and on the Ex it's important to torque them to 145 to 155 ftlbs...
I would really revisit the rotors before I do a lot of other work...
look into replacing them with ART rotors...

I checked on Sunday and the lower ball joint was shot. I replaced it on Monday, along with the upper. The vibration is much less, but still getting it. I also did a run out test on the rotors along with mic'ing them. They are well with in Ford's specs. I'm thinking its just a pile of things so far.
I second replacing the rotors and making sure to torque the lugnuts in the correct sequence. If you really want to you could turque all of them at say, 50 lbs. then 100, then what ever the specs are.
