adjusting the valves?

I am looking into buying a diesel and on the cummins website it says that if you have a standard output diesel (i.e.not HO) in a Dodge that you have to get the valves adjusted after 24K and them every 48K. If you have the HO diesel then you get them adjusted at 125K and then every 48K.

Two questions:

1) Do Ford (International/Navistar) diesel valves need to be adjusted?

If so,

2) About what does this cost ???

Thanks guys!

Both engines (the new 6.0L and the current 7.3L) use roller hydraulic lifters which have needle bearings in the roller, manufactured by Rochester Products, Division of General Motors. There is never any adjustment.

Ford used to have a truck application that needed a catalitic converter to make it emissions compliant and the only manufacturer who was making this particulat converter at the time was AC Division of General Motors. Ford wouldn't buy them from GM so they had us (Navistar) buy them, ship them to our facility where we removed the identification tags (indicating that they were manufactured by GM), repackage them and ship them to which ever Ford plant used them. The rivalry runs deep!!
