Im wondering if anyone might have any idea weather or not ford will b
comming out with a diesel engine (hopefully turbo charged) to put into the Ranger. Im looking into buying one and would like it to have a diesel rather than gas engine. if anyone has any info please respond.:-X11
I have never heard that they are going to put a diesel in a ranger but i have heard about a half-ton truck. But on a post down the page somone said that they are having problems with viabration.
I remember the diesel in the 80's. Available in the ranger and the escort. Uncle had an escort that got 55mpg on the highway.
Smaller diesel(4.5 or 4.6) will be available in the f-150/Expedition fords. Maybe 2004?
Would be nice if they would put the 4.6 gasser in a ranger. I might buy one.
What are you guys talking about?
Heck yeah they come diesel, I am about to buy a used one but they are all over Latin America , I am in Nicaragua and they are pretty popular here. Itsa an International 4 cylinder engine
I just seached Ford Ranger Diesel and got this site and I just joined, So anyone out there can tell me why I should not buy this little truck down here? Its a Manuel and thats a bummer but reminds me of my truck bigger truck in Miami. Fuel here is 3.50 a gallon (Diesel)
well there putting them in cars and Jeep is saying there coming out with one for the Grand Cherokee. Liberty already has one, so why not follow suite that seems to be the new thing. Hence Diesel is so Dam EXPENSIVE

Welcome to FTE.
We don't have those small diesel engines here in the US, but would very much like to have them.
With that said, I don't know of any reason not to go ahead and get one of those Rangers.
If there are a lot of them around there should be someone there in your local area that you could talk to. Perhaps go to a local repair shop and ask the mechanics what they think of them. If they smile and say they like them a lot because they make them rich, I would not buy one!!!
I remember reading thread a while back about one guy in Brazil that had a crew cab Ford Ranger with a 2.8 4 cyl Powerstroke under the hood. I would love to swap out the wifes Sportrac with one of those! Ford would make a killing in the US with those things.
