Nascar

Does anybody else think nascar is going down the tubes fast? All these rule changes, moving races out west, and toyota entering the truck series are really hurting the sport in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I dunno, I can definitely see where you are commin from. All these new rules are definitely changing things! I have always watched NASCAR and I can see how the rules are chaging the sport. And about these Toyotas entering the truck circuit, I dont think they should be there. But I guess we will have to wait and see how things turn out, I think NASCAR is going down hill but, nothin to extensive has happened yet.

I have watched NASCAR since the start and , in my opinion, it is NOT "going down the tubes". NASCAR has grown into the huge sport it is by evolving with new technology and times, and it must continue to adjust and change as conditions dictate. Why is adding Toyota any different than adding Dodge, the level of competition is only increased and the rules are tweaked to insure a parity. NASCAR fans are loyal and very close to their sport and we continue to see good racing every week. I was disappointed at the classless few who threw their beer cans on the track after the last event.

Nascar started going down the tubes when They came up with the restrictor plates. They have steadily spiraled down since. The Cars are all the same, too many common templates. If it weren't for the stickers, you would have to be real close to know if you are looking at a Ford or a Dodge.

it can be considered good that they're all the same basically, that way, the winners show off the fact that their good setup, and driver skills won the race

That reminds me too much of IROC. In fact, NASCAR is fast becomming very IROC-like...too much is the same. Its time USAC or somebody stepped-up to the plate and started racing stock cars like they used to. If Monte Carlos are FWD...then race em that way. If you race a Hemi Chrysler 300 and kick-butt then its too bad for the Montes...that's the way it is.

I like to root for the Fords, but it's hard to tell em apart any more. That's not right.

I agree with u Mr V8, they basically are all the same, thats why I can't see any point watching boxes go round n round , I mean yeah you can say its better than a straight line but atleast they have different classes engine wise, different cars, and last time I checked I couldnt just go buy a car and go NASCAR racing, but thats a different story if I want to drag a little. I think they should try different engine classes or something , maybe actually let the factories get back in it so we can have good ole fashion Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy Hemi's and Cammer's Mark Iv's whatever , just make it worth the hundreds of laps. And no Im not trying to offend any die hard NASCAR fan

They started going down the tubes when the price of being competitive went into the millions. This has turned off sponsers who only want to pony up a few million and not tens of millions. I think the racing is competitive but for the sponsers who only get a 5 second shot as their car is wrecked (again) it's no wonder NASCAR is starting to get concerned about not having a full field.

But then Formula 1 is pretty much a parade lap and they still get sponsers (although there is concern there to).

The last NASCAR race had over 50 lead changes.....how many lead changes occured in the last Formula 1 race? Damn few, and they have a international following.

Soccer is international however but who would you rather watch? The Super Bowl, Daytona, Formula 1, or the World Soccer Cup? I will watch Daytona.

Super Bowl , least either team can score without the fans throwing stuff at them b/c they are so immature to realize, hey its a race and geez Dale Jr isnt the next thing to God on the track

Guess that you don't watch much football. There have been many games halted or delayed for people throwing things onto the field.

As far as Nascar going downhill, well to the longtime fan it looks that way but to the new breed it's growing. I am an oldtime fan and really do not like the direction it is headed. Used to be you could go to a race and every fan could tell you about the sport, the favorite driver, point, and everything else. Now the ones going to the races ar edoing it more because it's the "in" thing to do. They don't want to be the only one at the watering hole that didn't go. I still watch but it gets harder every year. But you got to remember it's the long time fans that caused this to happen. If Nascar had not had the fan support and base it would not have grown and a growing sport means more and more money being brought in. The more money the more changes so here we go again, another sport going towards the money. I am starting to follow and enjoy the Outlaws more and more now. They still have the "go for it - winner takes all" attitude.

I don't like Dale Jr. ...And now I guess I don't like his litter-throwing fans either. Looks like they are showing what a bunch of knuckle-draggers they really are. The rules are the rules...they should get used to it. Maybe if Jr. could do some weeping like that Indian did years ago in that anti-litter commercial, his fans would get the hint.
