Hey yall, there was a couple of things I was wondering about my trucks C6 and didn't know if it is behaving like it should. The truck is an 86 250, 460 motor, 4.10 a-gears, stock tires.
The toruque converter realy seems to slip a lot when heavily engaging the throttle from a stop or low speeds. I know it is normal for TC's to slip under these conditions, but for some reason it seems to do it more than other trucks. I don't do burnouts too often but when I try, it's really not that impressive for a truck with a 460 and 4.10 rear. Other than that the trans and engine are very healthy.
Other thing is when I park on an incline, put it in park and then when I go to leave and put it in D, it's always stiff coming out of park. Is this also normal?
How do you know it's the torque converter and not the trans ? Usualy when a torque converter goes it's all at once. And yes thats normal there is a lot of pressure on the parking pawl when it's on a hill.
The trans does not feel like it is slipping, just that the TC is really absorbing a fair amount of power. The trans shifts great, just wondering if the stock TC may not be that efficient and if their is anything I can do to help it without dropping lots of $$$. Thanks for the reply
