Has anyone else experienced a sort of "juddering" as you turn the steering wheel? It only happens when the wheels are nearing the extremes both left and right. I checked the fluid in the pump, serpentine belt is in good cond and is tight and the tires aren't rubbing on anything.
Is it both sides? When you apply brakes going down hill?
I had a simular problem from my right side especially noticable after going over pot holes or making right turns. Turned out to be "Upper Control Arm Bushings"
cost $150 Can. to fix and found out it was worth every penny.
However you need to give us more information. It could be a lot of different things.
It only seems to happen at less than 5mph, both sides (although I think it's more noticable turning left) and brakes or no brakes, same. The van has 126k with no frontend work that I know of.....could be time?
The vibration is not felt through the steering wheel or pedals, it does shake the dash a bit though. I thought it might have been the serp. belt slipping on the PS pulley but I don't hear any squealing?
Does this problem of juddering from turning extreme left or right happen when you're stationary? Jack up each side, pull & push on each tire at 9 o'clock and 3 O'clock. If theres much movement check tie rods and ball joinst. Push and pull at 12 O'clock & 6 O'clock, if much movement then bearings are a posibility. Also check for a posible sticky caliper. Good luck
This odd problem seems to have stemmed from my serp. belt slipping on the PS pulley. I changed out the belt this morning and it seems to have solved it. Funny how I had ruled this out since I didn't hear any squealing noises usually associated with this behavior, as this is my first truck with this type of belt drive I learned something!
