Can some please explain exactly what the following guages are used for and what are the normal operating parameters for the PSD 6.0L with these guages. Which ones would be recommended if running a chip and doing light towing? (I searched the forums but did not see anything that explained this other than it was recommended)
Is EGT the same as pyro?
Pyro (Pre Turbo) - is there still a danger of these being sucked into the engine or has this been fixed?
Pryo (Post Turbo) - has the accuracy been fixed for post pyro
Fuel Pressure
Boost
Transmission temp
A pyro measures the EGT (exhaust gas temperatures). Temperatures should not exceed 1250 degrees. The pyro is there to protect your engine, not the turbo. There have been very few occurances of a probe actually breaking off and getting sucked through the turbo. If you're melting the probe, you already have other major concerns to begin with. Pre-turbo is the only place to get an accurate reading of EGT's. Post-turbo is better than none at all, but there is no exact formula to calculate temps. It will help you make an educated guess as to temps.
I'm not sure of the tolerances of the 6.0 for the other gauges.

Also what other guages are there and why would you need them?
I agree with johnsdiesel on the pyro temp (pre-turbo). I installed mine pre-turbo (see my Club FTE link, click the truck link). Seeing how quickly the pyro gauge reacts I can see that it would be real easy to exceed that 1250 if you were monitoring on the post side. I finally hammered mine the other day and hit 1200 pretty quickly. Don't know what a post would have recorded. From what I have read it appears there can be from 150-450 deg diff. I don't run a tranny gauge. I use the one that came on the truck. My boost gauge has registered 32 lbs of boost. As far as fuel pressure, I figure if the truck quits, I dont have any.
