I found out more about the deal. He is going to be using the frame too. I guess he is putting a van body on it and a small flatbed behind that.
So all I am getting is the body.
I would think the front clip would bolt onto a longbed RC frame.
Perhaps some of the cab mounts would too, and I would just have to fab half the mounts?
Anyone know about this?
that is a big waste, but some people don't care. Try and find a super cab 4x4 frame, it is only 5 inches longer then the crew frame, mabye he will take the super cab frame, or you could put the crew on it.
That would be a huge waste of a good crewcab . Just to give you an idea of what that truck could be... I just had my 79 appraised. It came out at $22,500.00 with a subnote that it would be over 35,000.00 to have the truck built.
Since crewcabs are rare, and there are literally tens of thousands of reg cab chassis/running gear setups out there, you should sell the crewcab leaving it intact and have $ left over for both of you to do what you want...
Would be a shame to cut up an intact crewcab.
It would be awesome if I could find an extended cab like that. I'd put it on my short little F100, and have nothing but a big toolbox behind the cab. He he he...
would you object too terribly if we hung your brother by his toes? thats such a shame to do that to such a nice and rare truck. to ford truck people thats probably the equivelant of cutting up a decent chevelle ss or a mustang mach 1. get your brother drunk and have him sign the title over. hehehe. o well, such a shame.
Good news.
My nephew said they were talking about it and he might not be using the frame after all.
That means I only need to get a driveline for it.
I have a 400/c6/and T-case so I just need a 3/4 ton front axle.
That is good news... a 3/4T front axle should be easy to find... locate a wrecked 86 to current 1 ton F-350 and you've done even better: a hi pinion Dana 60.
I think it is a straight bolt in... The only difference might be the spring pad widths, but I believe they are the same. I have seen a lot of them swapped in early trucks.
