My 99 f150 has 90k miles, it has v 8 5,4, I’ve been having starting problems with it last 4 days, it turns on fine and quickly rpm starts going down and then it stalls, but if I keep my foot on gas it stays on till I remove my foot from gas. I have to try least 5 minutes before it gets going, but funny thing is, after I get it going it works fine all day, I just have the problem after it sits for few hours. Change the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter and check the codes nothing present and it is still doing the same thing.
you might want to check you idle arm control valve. I've heard that if it is really cold out and your idle arm control vavle is on its way out then it will do that.
I had that exact problem on my 4.2 last year. Replaced the IAC valve (Idle Air Control) and all was well. Cost me about $70 at Discount Auto. You can change it out in about 5 minutes.
I agree with the above. I think that you have a IAC gone bad. Sometimes they will set a code, sometimes not. I dont recomend cleaning, just replace. Make sure your oil filler cap is on. This can cause a problem, ask me how i know Good luck
That is definitely the IAC as stated before. Had the same problem
on our '99 Expedition in October. No code thrown, but had to keep
the foot on the gas, smoke coming out, etc. Also replaced the
IAC in our '97 F150 as the idle started going up and down.
You can find it at Autozone for $55 or so. Looks like a cylinder with
two bolts holding it on. From the front of your engine, look behind the
throttle body (covered by black hood with 5.4 on it) from the passenger side
and you'll see it sticking off the back. Cleaning it won't work for long if at all.
Autozone had to order mine for the 4.6 F150. I let my former mechanic do
the Expedition 5.4 in October, and he screwed me on the bill .
That was before I found FTE.
FYI, 4.6 IAC is on the driver's side sticking off the side, not the back.

Thank You Guys For The Info, I Got The Part From Autozone For $44, I'm Going To Try To Replace It Today, If I Can Change The Those Stupid Spark Plugs (by The Way It Took Me 4 Hours To Change Those Spark Plugs And I'm Never Doing It Again), I Should Be Able To Change Iac Myself, I think..
