I have a 2nd hand '98 F-150 that got for my first truck. Im not a mechanic and ive got some problems. Unfortuanantly, im the only person in my entire family that drives a Ford. Clueless...
-Keyless Entry-When i bought the truck the salesman told me that the truck had an anti theft system..i believe its just screwed up...When the truck is off for approx. 30 mins. it will not start unless you hit the unlock button on the keyless entry...no matter what!! Without the keyfob i cant move. Any help appreciated!
-Trailer Wiring-I pull a trailer for the local band program and was halfway though their season and my trailer wiring just stopped working. The running lights on both sides work fine...but the turn signals and brake lights dont work...thougt it was the trailer, hooked to another truck and it worked fine. I hooked mine to another trailer thinking that might be the problem..did the same thing. ive looked at all the fuses in the truck and under the hood, everything checked out ok. Any suggestions?
Thanks. Branden

Dis you check the small fusebox closer to the firewall under the hood. It's about 1 inch x 3 inch. It should have 2 fuses in it. I think these are for the trailer. Hope this helps.
If "your" problem is a blown fuse, something made it blow. The problem will most likely be the trailer, intermittant short. Check out the trailer wiring completely - open up the trailer plug in connector if possible and look for loose terminals , look at the wires for bare/pinched areas, even pull the bulbs and chek the sockets(unless yu have sealed units). Simple stuff I know, but the next person's truk harness might not be protected from the trailer harness.

Your truck is equipped with an aftermarket alarm system. You can over ride the ignition lockout. All you need to do is find the wire to the ignition switch they cut in two and ran to the alarm module, resplice it back to original and the lockout will no longer function, yet allow your keyless to continue to operate.
I once had my trailer wiring short out because I water from a puddle splashed up in it. If you can get a multi-meter you can check for voltage at the plug, that will give you a place to start.
There will be an aftermarket alarm module under your dash. They typically just take the start wire and cut it in two and tie the two halves into the alarm ignition lockout. Find that wire and cut the bypass out and splice the halves back together and you should be good to go.
