black supercrew

I ma considering buying a supercrew lariet but they dont offer it in dark shadow grey, for some damn reason, so i am considering black on black. I know that there is a lot more upkeep for it too look good. Does any one have any tips or opinions on these black trucks.

You must wash black trucks frequently and if it rains, you out of luck. Water spots are a big problem with dark colors, I use a synthetic chammois called "The absorber" that worked really well and is only $8.00 at target.

I think everyone should own a black vehicle once in their life. I had one, once. Wow, it was beautiful for the first 20 minutes after I cleaned it.
I'll never have another.

black is beautiful

I guess it all boils down to how much you love your truck, and how much free time you have. This FX4 is my second black truck since 2001. If you can take the better part of 8 hours to wash clean and detail your truck, then you stand back and take a nice long look at the fruits of all your labor. A mirror finish that looks a foot deep. Then watch heads turn as you drive by. There is no other color that can give you that deep a shine. A california duster really helps between washes, unless it rains. Then you wait for the weekend and do it all over again. For me black is the only color. Like Henry Ford once said, "you can have it in any color as long as it's black"
P.S. My FX4 screw is all black. To me all black looks meaner, especially from the head on view. Take a look at the two head on. One all black and another with the accent color, and you'll see what I mean.

Exactly, as stated above, how much spare time you have, how clean do you want to keep it ?

Wax once a month, a bunch free time and you will have the best looking truck around, I have had one black truck, well it was my wifes sport trac, it looked great but was a job to clean.

Now I have a silver car, great color, easier to clean and looks clean longer.

And the T Red on my super crew, it looks good, but is also a bear to clean, both have black interior, looks super but only looks clean for about 24 hours.

If you have the time and energy, go for it.

I am on my third black truck and and currently ordering my fourth. I my opinion you can not beat the depth of shine on a black truck. My current truck is a '97 F250 LD that has been waxed twice since I have owned it. Granted, it does show the dirt but a quick wash and dry is all I ever do. Now that I have kids I don't even do that as much, I just run it through the car wash. If you dry your vehicle, water spots shouldn't be a problem. Swirls marks do show up along with any small scratchs if you are really close to the vehicle and are looking for them.

I found that the Mr. Clean Auto Wash does pretty good on my black SCrew. Spot free after the wash (in the shade).
I have to agree with the others above...only for about 20 min.

I love black,
looks great at night and great during the day from 10+ feet away.
But the torture it puts my mind thru in seeing all the swirls, etc is just too much now...

too bad it took me 3 black vehicles to see the light
I settled on an FX4 shadow grey, though black still looks terrific
I have seen a few f150s with sandstone( can't remember the name right now) and that color looks very sharp as well, in my opinion

I was faced with the same dilema. I was set on silver 100% and went to the dealership ready to purchase only to learn that they don't offer it in the Lariat. I ended up with a black on black Lariat. Beautiful truck but it does show EVERYTHING. I'm investing in all of the top of the line car care products to make washing my truck easier and faster - I recommend doing the same unless you plan on hiring a service to keep on top of it almost daily.

My last car, a Taurus, was black. My Harley Road King is black, and now my '04 Lariat SCab is black. I'm thinking about getting a black wife!! BLACK RULES!!

You get a lot of looks with a clean black truck.
