Shocks for the Ranger

I got a light truck, and everytime i go over speedbumps, dirt, jumps, hehe, etc, its horribly bumpy, i wondered what suggestions you guys had for some decent shocks for the ranger. something like Rancho.

I'm using Rancho's and there was a noted improvement. But the best improvement comes when some weight is in the back. This, of course, lowers gas mileage so I just live with what little bumpyness there is. You might also experiment with the air pressure in the tires.

Tires maybe?

Has anyone tried a bigger or better grade tire? My 2004 Ranger came with Continentals, and rides very bumpy. And of course the roads in Mass. are in such terrible shape due to the Big Dig costs, which doesn't help. Cheers.

I need new shocks too, really bumpy, and sometimes when i hit a bump, the back end slightly swings and when it lands it catches the road again. Dangerous :-(

Something I noticed about tires, I have run a "cheaper set" or off-brand of all-terrain type tires, and when I switched to a top brand of all terrain type tire it made a huge difrence. Also keeping the psi at 28 in the rear and no more than 30 in the front seem to help. When I go above 30psi the ride does seem to be a little ruffer. I, like cowboybvilly am running rancho shocks (I have on my last two rangers) and really like them. I have a buddy who has the Rancho RS9000's, adjustable shocks, man if you can put up the $250 for a set they are well worth it, you can really fine tune your ride in.

truck tires are hard

I switch to a set of SVO 16" wheels and Michelin MXV+ 225/60-16s and it made a MARKED difference in the ride, up from the 14" stock alloys. The ride and handling both were improved over the skinner, thicker sidewall tire.

SO to whomever says a shorter sidewall rides rougher, I say
