Hi, i got a v6, 4.0L 5 spd single cab xlt. (smallest of the ford ranger pickups.) with 1500000 mile engine, runs pretty, nice. ok, i got some simple questions here, in a large assortment of topics. 1. i got this stupid "stink bug" effect on my rear end. the tail sticks up liek a stink bug after you kick it. what can i do to equalize this witht eh front end which sits nicely above the tires. you cant image how annoyed by thsi i am. 2. i got a busted gas gauge, however it isnt the gauge itself, i am pretty sure its the sensor, can i fix this myslef, if so what can i do( basic idea), 3. my altenator is startin to go, but money is DEFINATLY an issue. 4. its deffinatly got some SICK acceleration thru 3rd gear, but on 4th adn 5th, it seems to lack the "umph" that it has in lower gears, like it jsut isnt getting the power it shoudl be. i know this is alot to ask in 1 post, but i dunt know where to post it. you guys, help me out here. oh-yah and in response to exausht topics, man, get a Cherry Bomb glasspack, simple install, and dosent give you that annoying "rice" sound. nice suttle throaty sound. ok thanks guys


OH YYEAH, 1 more thing, is my truck retarded or just old. it says it can go 85, but damn, aroudn 75 its spittin blood out its ears, i can barely keep up on the freeway average speed, haah, but i still love the acceleration...

First off, buy a service manual. $15 for a Haynes will save you plenty.
There are lowering blocks available in different sizes to drop the rear end.
Once you get around to tuning it up & fixing the other stuff that's wrong with it, you'll like it a whole lot more.
