I have a 1977 F150 with a 351m in it. I was wondering if some one knew what rearend gears I might have.It has a ton of power and torque but no speed. If you take your foot off the gas it will actually lose speed. It is also an automatic.
If the tag is gone, jack up the back under the diff. Get some one to help you turn both tires one full revolution as simultaneously as possible in the same direction (assuming an open diff). Count turns on the driveshaft. Cheers. I bet $1.00 on 3.25.
I'll have to take your $10 Supercab. A F150 would have a 9" and 3.54's weren't available in a 9". You could get 2.75, 3.00,3.25,3.50,3.70,4.10.
I'll take cash please.
On a 2wd, 3.00 is pretty standard from what I have seen. Depending on what size tires that it has on it, it could be 3.25 or 3.50.
My 351M/C6 truck that is now 460 powered had a 2.75 originally. I put a 3.50LS out of a 86 4x4 Bronco in it.
The tag is gone.It is a 4x4.All I know is it is geared low for pulling. The original owner told me he specal ordered lower gears but forgot what he orderd.
I would guess 4.10's. The higher numerical gear ratio's (3.70, 4.10 etc.) tend to give more decompression related slowing when you let off of accelerator pedal as to the lower numerical gear ratio's (2.70, 3.00, etc.) which tend to let you coast longer. Sorry, no money, cann't afford to lose any. Bank acount like a sieve.
