I have a 93 F250 with a 7.3l and an auto trans.
The past couple of weeks when I start the truck
the tach reads at about 300 rpm, when
I know it's running at it's usual 1000rpm.
It doesn't do this every time I start it and
usually starts reading right once it's warmed
up. Sometimes I'll be driving down the road and it
will be a couple 100 rpm low.
Any idea what's trying to go bad?:-(
Also do any of you know if the 93 F250 has the duel
mass flywheel?
the tach gets its signal from the alternator, but it could be the tach itself going bad, the tach and electronic speedo went bad on my brothers brand x, always stayed maxed out tho both of em buried
