Vibbbbbbbbbbration Problems
I had my dual extended driveshaft redone with all 3 new u-joints and center carrier bearing, and in the reinstallation process lost my orientation on the spline connection, and still have a vibration problem. I have decided to remove it and have the entire "shebang" rebalanced. I have this vibration that seems to be more pronounced in the first and second range of drive, and less in the third and OD range. I have checked wheel bearings, motor mounts and tires. When I rev. the engine in neutral, everything seems smooth. Could this be something in the transmission? Would I cause any problems if I engaged the transmission with the driveshaft disconnected and check for vibrations? I will now at least be assured, it's not the driveshaft after I have it rebalanced. I would have thought it it were the driveshaft being unbalanced, it would have been more prominent in OD and less so in the 1st and 2nd range, but I am at lost for a solution. Ideas anyone????

73 Monte Carlo. TH350 exchange rebuilt. I had put 30k miles on the car b4 the tranny went in and knew that there weren't any vibrations. The rebuilder finally took the tranny out and found one of the planetaries to be faulty.
The vibration happened (like a bad u-joint) at city speeds and would fade away with more speed.
You've got a bunch of miles on your truck and just maybe that's what's wrong with it???
