5 speed auto transmission problem

1999 ford ranger super cab xlt 4x4 5 speed auto 3.0 liter engine.
no upshift to 4th or 5th o/d light flashing, restart truck, seems fine now?

How many miles? Maybe it just needs a fluid and filter change. Especially if the problem is just starting.

105k fluid and filter change at 25 50 75 & 100K

Have you checked the fluid level? Maybe it is a little low or high. If the level looks good, you may have an overdrive problem. If it seems fine now, maybe you should just drive it for a while to see if the problem comes back.

Don't mean to scare you, but similar thing happened to mine some time ago. Eventually turned out to be a servo problem related to their mounting bracket(s) inside the transmission. Ford has a TSB on it so apparently it is a part defect. Wound up costing about $600 at Ford.
