Help identify this engine!

I started this thread on the 73-79 site too. I picked up a deal on a 77 F150 SWB 4X4 that I purchased because I trusted the guy selling it and it was a great deal. Didn't have a chance to look it over before sending him the check. I was looking under it this evening and noticed that the C6 had a small block bell housing! The truck is in perfect mechanical condition but with the pop of the hood it was clear that it ain't got the good ol' M block in it like I thought it would. Can you folks give me some clues to look for in the morning when it is light enough to see under the hood as to what will determine if what I have is a 351W or a 302? It is a V8 and it is blue! I did notice an adapter plate so the 2V carb will sit on it's 4V intake too. It has after market chrome valve covers that are held on with six bolts and the intake manifold does not have the hole under the choke for a hot air choke tube. No provision for hot air choke tube on the passenger side exhaust manifold either. Found these little details out then got too dark to continue. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated!

The intake on a 351 is wider than on a 302 if that helps any.

Check the firing order!
302 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
351W 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

I find that the easiest way to tell if it's a 302 or 351W is to look at the bottom thermostat housing bolt. If you can get a socket on it it's a 351, if you need a wrench it's a 302.
