Does anyone know if a big block bell housing that can be attached to my 3spd with overdrive transmission exists for a 429-460? Right now the tranny is on my 86 f150 attached to a 300. I would like to keep the manual tranny after installing the 429. If so where can I purchase it?
t-18 is a good tranny...or if you don't mind spending some money...you can get a ZF 5 speed that will give you an OD gear for highway driving...for put the ZF in their 87 to roughly 97 F-250/350 trucks...they had them for small blocks, big blocks and diesels, and in 2 or 4 wheel drive...make sure you get the right one...i don't know for certain if the bellhousings are removeable or not...i have a t-18 behind my 300-6, and it's a good tranny...only thing it doesn't do is drop my rpms once i get above 55/60 mph...
the Zf dosent have a removable bellhousing its all one case made out of aluminum i am in the process of isntalling one in my 84 f250 ill have it all done tomarrow and it should be good i have the old t19 if anyone is intrested in it email works great just pulled it out cause i wanted the Zf with the OD since my truck has a 4.10 rear gears and a 460 so the 4 speed was killing me on the highway in miles per gallon
I just switched my 84 F250 from 4x2 to 4x4, and am currently running the original C6 auto until I can find a Bell housing for the Berg Warner 4speed. Do you happen to know a good place to get a Bell Housing for a 460, I have been trying to find one for about 3 months now. I have the tranny al;most ready and have completed all the interior changes except for the floor pan. My 84 has a solid floor pan, and my donor 83 F250 had a removable floor pan. The outline is there so I'll cut it out and install the 4x4 floor pan this month. I just need to find a Bell Housing.
