increade in gas mileage
does anyone have any suggestions to increase gas mileage. i have a 1996 explorer v6 and i average around 7-9 miles per gallon city and about 13 highway. i would appreciate any help. thanks in advance.

How many miles do you have on it? When was the last service done? There are many things that can affect your gas mileage. Doing a regular tune-up - spark plugs, wires, cleaning the IAC, mass air sensor, an oil change, etc. Also, make sure your tire air pressure is correct and you have a front end alignment. All these items can cause bad gas mileage.

After replacing plugs with some good plats....some good plug wires (don't skimp on either of these).....changed fuel filter.....etc.....I started getting original mileage on a 130K+ Exp. 98 SOHC 4.0. (around 20 mixed driving...higher if all hiway).
Plus....go EASY on the gas....don't leadfoot...makes a HUGE difference with Exps.
