Rear U Joints
If so...how do I get at that joint and replace it? I can't see how to remove the drive shaft from it and from the differential.

I recomend investing in a Haynes or Chilton manual available at any parts house before tackleing this, if this is your first time.
To get the drive shaft off you need to remove the 4 bolts that fasten the drive shaft joint to the pinion flange, a simple box end wrench works great for this.
Once you remove the 4 bolts, a simple tap of a hammer on the joint end (where you just removed the bolts. not on the drive shaft!) should knock it loose, then the drive shaft just slides out of the transmission end. I reccomend marking lines on the shafts and such so that every thing lines back up in the way it came off.
Than does how does the drive shaft come off the U joint by the rear differential?

The u-joints are pressed in and held by snap rings, you will need a press (or very large vise and sockets) to press them out.
This will all be explained in detail in a Haynes or Chilton manual, it will be the best 20 bucks you've ever spent.
