They are out there. You have to be persistant in locating them. The classifieds here is a source, Ebay is another. Use a search engine listing "Ford trucks" and you'll find a ton of info. Many members here have stuff they'd swap or sell. I'm doing a 50 F-1 pickup and it's been a long road, but I'm finding 99% of what I need. As the old saying goes....... "Jump right in... the water's fine!"
Here's a killer for us old panel owners. I found a '48-50 panel way in the back of a farm that is buried in the brush and behind some rotting farm machinery. The bottom of the truck is sitting in the dirt for many years and I am sure there isn't much left of anything touching the ground but there are many useable parts including a pair of repairable rear doors with hinges and the roof looks nice. I looked inside and there is a set of aluminum flatheads and intake along with a bunch of other unidentifiable junk, I couldn't get the doors open. Who knows what's there. I have tried, unsuccessfully, a couple of times to convince the old farmer to sell me the truck but he doesn't want anyone getting hurt trying to get it out and suing him so he won't sell. I didn't push him too much because I could tell he wouldn't tolerate much before kicking me off of the place. I left my name and number in the hope that when he decides to scrape all of this stuff he will let me buy it then. By this time there won't be anything left of the truck. It make me nuts to know it's just sitting there rotting
i am in oregon, and the rear doors i found were in north carolina... so a road trip later i had rear doors.... the kicker was when i got back ( 6 months later) i noticed a guys cows down the road got loose, and was chasing them around and found not 1 but 2 50 ford panels in his back yard. these were/are sitting on wheels less than 1 mile from home.... i chated with the owner and he has given permission to take what ever i can use... unfortantley, there are no front fenders
