Well driving a truck helps. I work in downtown Toronto ... and the metermaids are fairly bullish there. Problem is... when you're hauling several thousand pounds of stuff, you don't want to park down the street to unload.
With 4 wheel drive and a 7000 lb curb weight, a super duty truck isn't something the little tow trucks can pick up easily. Problem is that they have to get all 4 wheels off the ground... and the common tow truck in the fleet that patrols downtown isn't rated or equiped for it. They just refuse, if asked.
They can always call for a bigger truck, but most larger tow trucks can make more money doing real work ... and by the time they get downtown ... you're gone ...
Yeah, I had a 94 F250 4x4 7.3L Heavy Duty towed because I lost a clutch while on vacation. Another 94 F250 flat bed wrecker picked it up and took me to the nearest Ford dealer with no problems. Most are flat beds here in FL now.
Tadashi,
Been here at Bliss since last Nov and heard of several trucks making the run for the border! All types and brands; when I got the SD I had a maxi-lock installed. A keyed switch under dash that disables the starter and pushes a cable pin through a latch in the hood to keep it shut. It was recommended over the viper alarm system by the EPD. Two of the peace officers had trucks attempted to be truck jacked and the viper made it's way to Pancho Villia's homeland the other damaged but still stateside. When I had the remote lock system installed by ford it too disengages the starter. Maybe over kill, but the truck is still here. Are you headed here for the SMC? If so, let me know and I'll help you all I can. Later

Tim,
not sure here, but the maxi-loc kills all power to the starter. Turn key and every thing happens that should until you turn to start and there is no starter action. The switch is a keyed housing up under the dash. I did not install it, but looks fairly simple. It also secures the hood. Hope this helps.
I have an '03 Excursion Ltd. 6.0LPSD 4X4 and I have no idea if I have PATS??? Never read about it until now (don't feel bad Tim... you just happended to ask before me)!!!
1) I have the memory seats.
2) No memory climate control (never heard of this option).
Makes you think that we worry so much about our trucking continuing to run we do not even know what options we have. Can you imagine how many prayers are said every night accross this country for the 6.0….
Hawk - thanks. I will look into that. I am headed to Bliss around this July. Still looking for a house before we hit post.
beachbum - if you have PATs your keys are big and thick (plastic handle part). If you need a replacement it costs about $40 per key. You cannot just have a key made anywhere it has to be ordered from Ford.
Hi there Txfodiesel from greater downtown Mansfield form another all black truck, although an Ex :-)
There's a plan afoot to get together at Texas Raceway in Kennedale - 1/8 mile trip in a nice seeting --- sounds like fun...
will keep you posted: http://www.texasraceway.com/
The Harley 2004 F250's do have the chip on the key like everyone is discussing was not an option on Superduty series. I had an alarm with remote start installed, and they did have to get another RF'd key to install in the dash for the remote start. They did not cut the key, just using it for the RF connection. They tapped into the steering column for all the necessary connections to the starter kill, power, etc... I have been happy with it so far. My seat controls and everything else works. I too wish the climate control was an option on the 2004's, but it sounds like the 2005's will have it.
