Hi! I had posted a message a few weeks back regarding a problem with my tires. I have just under 15K miles on them. They were first rotated at 7K miles and again at 14K (I know the manual suggests 5K...it was too late when I realized it). Anyhow, since I had them rotated this last time I brought it back to Ford because I was getting that rur rur rur noise. A tech came out with me on a road test and did hear it as well. He said the belt on my tire was bad, and that I needed a new tire. He suggested getting 2 tires because otherwise they won't be wearing evenly (if that's true). The service manager said that this won't be covered under the warranty since it's normal wear and tear(?) I don't see how needing a new tire at 15K is normal wear. That isn't normal!! I was getting that noise back a few months ago and they rotated them for that reason. Now I rotate them back and the now is back again.
I'm bringing it to Ford again tomorrow. They are taking my tires off and bringing it to the tire store that is a continental contatrac dealer to have them looked at. The manager did say that the tires will be prorated. What should I expect? My husband feels they should be prorated back to 7K miles since that was the first time we complained about the tires (it's in Ford's system. It says that I brought the truck in because the tires were feathering). I don't mind paying for one tire (price of $116) but I feel the other tire should be covered under the warranty. What do you think? Do tire belts go bad at 15K miles? (probably even at 7K since the noise started back then).
