how do you keep a tranny in these trucks?my other f 350 was bought back by ford because it lost a tranny every 2500 miles.my new truck lost its tranny today at 3500 miles.i did very little towing and only towed 8100 pds.i kept the overdrive off to get flow to the tranny.no engine mods at all.what gives.it is a 2002 f-350 4 wd.
WOW, I don't understand either. I know of some tranny problems with the PSD but not anything like you are having. Even towing overloaded and with the OD on, I've never heard of a tranny failing that soon. I think you just had a run of terrible bad luck. I've got 200K on mine and never done anything to the tranny other than service it and I do tow heavy loads through the Rockies from time to time.
I hope you get the problem resolved.
Very interesting. A friend had a F-250 SD 4x4 lemon-lawed because the tranfer case would grind itself to bits every 1000 miles towing a boat. Two different dealers and Ford could not explain why it happened.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Sep-02 AT 08:18 PM (EST)]what hear some more.ford fixed(replaced) my bad tranny friday and its out today.lasted 250 miles.
That is unusual. I have a 99 e-350 with 195,000 miles and NEVER serviced the tranny! I dont haul much. I am worried most about the tranny since the engine would last a loooong time.
