I been asking a few qestions about fuel pump timeing and the like and just wanted to take a quick pole of what you all are getting for MPG. Any body getin beter than 18?
iam getten around 12-14 empty on the highway. have 4:10 ratio with a zf over drive. however my flatbed bodys front acts like a big air dam. see pics in my gallery.
10-14, with a ZF five speed, 35's and 3.55 diff gears (should be 4.10's at least). Varies between 10 and 14 depending on the speed. 14 is about 65, 10 is about 80 or 85 and fast acceleration. I have a front and rearend bumper replacement, wich dcreases mileage, 1 mpg less for every 1000 lbs added.
I get around 16-17 combined hwy/city on 35's and 4:10's unladen and around 12-13 pulling a 7000 lb fishing boat. I have a Banks turbo. I don't think I've ever taken a long hwy trip without a trailer to judge my hwy mileage.
I've got a 6.9 liter 85 with 50K original miles on it. Runs beautiful, but it's an absolute dog on fuel mileage. Has 3:55 gears, C6 auto, 4WD F250 HD. Best I've ever gotten was 12 m.p.g. on the highway. My Chevy truck 4WD 3/4 ton, 3:50 gears and T400 three-speed auto. and 6.2 engine has gotten 19 m.p.g.
I'm the same as Jens. I have an '89 F350, 3.55/C6, Crew Cab, LB, Duallie. 14 is all I get - unloaded city or hwy. I pull a Variety of trailers (gooses) and the mileage ranges between 10 (30') to 13 (18') at hwy speed.
Did get 23 once when on a very slow 35-45 MPH sunday cruise.
Most of the time running around town empty 14 to 16.
70 MPH interstate run 12
Pulling or hauling stuff around 10
Plowing snow 4
7.3 turbo 4 speed and 3.55's with 33" rubber 9' dump bed and 2 30" underbed toolboxes with snow plow frame and 70 gallons of fuel. 7860 lite weight without me.
back and forth to work stop and go running mt 17-18 decent road trip 19-20. havent pulled my TT yet dont expect to do as good but should'nt be as bad as my old 77 with a built 460 & c6.
I generally see 21 on the highway, and 15-17 in town or in rush hour traffic. Thats cc, 6.9, turned up 7.3 pump, RDT, 33" tires, 4.10's and ZF5 spd at around 70 on the big road turning about 2250 on the tach.
Last time i checked i was gettin about 12 MPG with a 86 f250w/ 6.9 & 4spd and 4:10 rear. also my injector pump is not set correctly and my clutch is going out so that is negitively affecting my mileage.
