Since I got my truck I haven't been able to get into the glove box since I dont have a key. Is there a back way to get into it or should I just pick it/get it picked & drop a new lock in it that I have a key to?
Another alternative if something is in the box you HAVE to get to is break the fiberboard from the bottom with a crowbar or something and retrieve the item / items you need, then get a replacement box for $15.00 on eBay. It's almost 30 years old anyhow....once you have the fiberboard out, then you can collapse the locking tongue from the inside of the box...
There's an excellent article on this site for building a metal glove box, using your fiberboard as a template. Check it out and if you decide you want to do this you can save the remnants of your old box for reference.
I talked to the guy I bought it from & he said he never had a key to it. He just got rough with it. I tried to get in it but I dont want to get to rough b/c I love to break stuff but you could real easily see a big detent in it Im sure i can get into it some time soon. Can someone snap a picture of the lock & stuff so when i go in from the bottom I know what to pull or what ever.
