okay you guys, does anyone in here do brake torques often? if so any pictures or movies or any stories what happened after brake torquing??
i enjoy the thrill of it personally, and when i lay some rubber down, and i drive past it i feel proud lol
quack
LOL, round II here we go! BTW, it's called "power braking". Brake torque is a term found in electric motor specifications.
On edit: if you only get one tire going when you do it, you're destroying the rear end in that Ranger (spyder gears, adjacent gears, and the pin that the spyder gears rotate against), along with the other usual things. Another thing to think about.............several years ago I decided to unleash about 325HP in a cloud of smoke and thanks to posi I employed both rear tires. A cop saw me do it and he called that negligent driving and did what a cop does naturally. Back then insurance companies tolerated it up to the point where you did it too many times. Somehow I think today it's much different.

We call them "Brake Stands".
They are even more impressive when one uses a line lock
line lock.. i have not heard that term in a while. we used to build them on our own, just put a valve in line to the rear brakes off the master ....anyhow we used to call them power stands
Quack, did you address the line locks that I mentioned in that thread from a couple of weeks ago? FWIW, you used to be able to buy an electric valve that cut off the flow of brake fluid to the rear brakes; they were fairly inexpensive.
I do brake stands (we use it in Canada too, eh) pretty well any time I can when I come home and my truck is a one-wheel-wonder...so I'm toasting that 8.8" am I? For crying out loud, whould I be able to get a decent posi for cheap somewhere so I'm not burning one tire? cause I think I'm gonna hafta swap that blading right for that fresh left otherwise...
I did a few brake stands in the lightning i borrowed last week. I left almost a 1/4 mile of two dark black lines down the road and it was great. Best part was I went around a soft corner peeling out and the marks looked perfect, as if someone's tires were wet and just took the corner. That thing will rip even in 3rd gear with the brake on a little. Lots of fun but no video
My buddy and I used to have a spot where we'd do a brakestand/burnout/power brake every Sunday on our way home from church. Now there's too many houses there, plus my wife wouldn't enjoy me beating on the Focus. My best burnout vehicle was my 87 F150 with a 351 in it. It was non-posi but lit up both tires easily if you worked the brake pedal right.
On my mom's V-8 cougar you have to pin it to the floor to get the tires to start spinning on a brake stand. On the lightning, you only need like 1/2 throttle maybe less.
That what i call them to. my dad says its power braking and we always argue about it. One of my friends did a brake stand and ruined his rear tires. If i had the money for new tires i would love to make some smoke.
also Where the heck did the Generic Made Chevy come from. I have been blinded. Just kidding

no i havent oops, what exactly is a "line lock" yeah i should probably adress my back brakes. woops
quack
A line lock cuts off the flow of brake fluid to the rear brake cylinders or calipers. When you push on the brakes, the front brakes keep the vehicle from moving while doing the cherished power braking. Let off the brakes and away you go.
BTW, I like that GMC. It brings back memories of my old 67 Firebird ragtop; the one dozen minimum sets of spyder gears I went through. I went through so many I can't even remember. But I had a Chevy rear end so parts were cheap and very available. But I got smarter quickly and found that by adding a posi and going thru the gears, often sideways, delivered much more crowd appeal than any Chevy truck, with a V8, embarrasing itself by spinning one tire on pavement wetted with some liquid..................
That GMC had no bleach, water, oil or anything to aid in its smoke making. 100% GMC POWER. Lol that truck has been through so much, you'd want one too! ITs a surviver, he cant seem to kill it!
