5.7 tow package. The truck makes a whine at highway speeds under power,if i let up it goes away, but as soon as i increase the throttle it comes back, also started the truck the other day and it started to surge, and the bed leaks water from all four corners ,went down a gravel road yesterday and the cab leaked dust into the cab,no rain yesterday ,but today after going down the gravel you can see perfectly where the bed leaks,35k for a non sealed truck bed, won't happen here,460 miles!
My Lariat just had the ring and pinion gear replaced due to whine between 67-73mph. Well its a week later and it is doing it worse now at 40mph,60mph and 67-73mph. It goes back tommorrow to have a new ring and pinion gear and they are going to see if ord has any new ideas. The tech said that ford is using a new and cheaper design on the 9.75 unit and that is why we are having these problems. Ford is going to have to step up to the plate on this one this is unacceptable
Wifes explorer does the same thing. Step on the gas and it whines let off and its quiet. Once you get it over 70 it smooths out. At first I thought it was the tires but after reading all these post it sounds like the rear end. I hope my truck dosent do it. It should be here in a day or two.
Torreador.... 5.7 well 5.4, Supercrews, FX4's, lariat's, 4x4's are the majority of sales.
Yep, I accidently made it a more powerful engine!!! But I took time a few weeks back and those seem to be the truck models with the most problems. I don't know if it means anything, but maybe someone can put together a spreadsheet on it to help zero in on what's happening.
Yep, some people still have a hard time with the Titan having more power. No need to exagerate. This ford is much better than that Nissan. 5.4, and I don't care what Nissan thinks about it!
My vehicle had a rear end whine at 40-50. They were going to replace the ring & pinion but opted for a new rear axle. Whine is gone. Well, at least that's one out of about 15.
I have a 04 super cab lariat 5.4 3.73 LS .
I have just notice the rear end whine at 1,000 miles when i accellerate, so i made a visit to my dealer and spoke with the Shop forman and he has ordered a whole new rear end and new clutches for the Limited slip.
The shop forman stated the only way to correct this was to get a whole new rear end because just replacing the parts whould not solve the issue due to a new rear end design.
Will post after truck being fixed...After all of this i still love my truck.
Seems to me that people that 'work' the truck probably dont have the time to spend talking about there trucks, running a business takes a lot of time. I would have a FX4 instead of my XL if I could get a FX4 with an 8' bed.
Man you guys are scaring me! I've got 123 miles on the truck and it's the best riding truck I've ever had *short list (57 chevy, 90 Camaro, 95 GMC sierra, 97 Chevy Tahoe). And yes, I'm a recent convert due to lots of freakin homework and an ugly chevy year.
So far best investment in a vehicle I've ever made. Sure glad I've got the 6 year/100k warranty....for a whopping 3thou. Got paranoid with the 97
tahoe and 8--- worth of freakin woes with normal driving conditions and good maintenance.
Driving an 04 S_CREW Lariat, 5.4L 3valve, 3.73 limited slip, tow package and just about everything else but the sliding back glass..including dvd player for the kid...who needs a sliding back glass in a super crew?
