How can I tell if my engine block heater is working on a 2002 PSD? I'm not having any starting problems nor do I really even need the thing in Dallas. Just wondering how I can tell since there is not a light or anything.
Please explain the block heater, I have a 2002 F-350 PSD, Where do you plug it in at? Does it come from the factory with one. I have no idea what you are talking about at all. It is begining to get cold here in N VA also. Explain please, Brian

The engine block heater is a heating element that generally installs into a freeze plug hole on your engine. It keeps the engine coolant warm making starts easier on cold mornings. It also makes the heater in the cab instantly warm. That is nice since we all know how long diesel's take to warm up. The plug will be found on the front end somewhere, if you have one installed. Its a standard 3-prong 110 male plug with a protective cap on it. Just plug it into an extension cord. Block heaters were not standard in 2002, but they are in 2003. The option price was only 30.00. You can get an aftermarket one pretty cheap also. I had to look all over the grill for mine and finally found it tucked behind the driver side fog lamp (Lariat).
