I was told by the" Blankety blank" Mechanic that I need new shift linkage in my 87 bronco II and he said that he cant find it, Its no longer available at Ford, This is after he rebuilt the transmission. There is alot more to this, but can anyone tell me where I can get new shift linkage?
Thanks
Wittey
is it a manual or automatic? The ford place here found me a manual shifter a couple years ago, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't make it now. You could also try LMC truck parts. They make a lot of stuff for BII's and Rangers.
its an automatic. I believe the trans has to be pulled to fix it. and since the company that rebuilt it dont want to pay to take it back out again. I had been after them for months.
So what's wrong with the old linkage? Is there worn out parts on it? I didn't realize they wear out. Did they rebuild the original tranny or put a rebuilt one in?
Yes it was supposed to be mine rebuilt tranny. the linkage is worn. it takes a few times to get in the gear that I need. I have to pull it back and forth a couple times to get it in park. and it wont even go in to OD position(well it goes in it on the shifter but not the trans.
