I have a 95 F-150 with a straight six,the problem I;m having is I get a real strong smell of gasoline when I'm stopped and the truck is running. With it off theres nothing.I,ve searched everywhere and theres no leaking gas anywhere. Is there some sort of charcoal canister or something else that's bad that could be causing this smell?
I had a 1987 F150 with that same engine and gas smell. It drove me crazy. Finally discovered that one of the fuel injectors had a small hairline crack and was leaking gas. Because the engine was hot, the gas would dry quickly and just leave the smell. Might be worth a look.
I was actually signing on here to post the same question. Mine is a 96 w/ a single tank. I mostly smell it the instant I shut it off and get out. Any details on where to start looking would be great! Thanks.
