You can find that tape at any Home Depot or Lowe's. I have seen some that looks like aluminum tape to some that looks like aluminum tape with a 1/8 thick foam on one side.
Has anyone done any tests to see if wrapping the intake does help the system any?
You can find that *specific* tape at those places?? All aluminized tapes arent the same. Tadashi, did you take a look at the link I provided mike austin?
Yes, but I am not sure about the spec on the other tapes at HD. Sounds like the same stuff. I have seen some heavy duty reflective tapes there. I have used it to wrap the inner light housing of my 400-watt metal halides and it is cool to the touch.
If the adhesive only lasts up to 450 deg why would the tape need to handle 1750 deg and would that part of the engine get up to 1750 deg?
I am curious if it is like in my fish hobby. Mark it for saltwater fish and they slap 300% mark up on it. Where you can find the same items that are used for other purposes but not marked up.
I have insulated my intake, it is the stock air tube, rerouted to pull air from the front of the engine bay. I also rigged up an air box that pulls from the grille and underneath. I used fiberglass pipe insulation wrapped with metalic tape, the insulation will help control heat cunduction and the metalic tape should help with control heat radiation. Between the intake, Gibson Exhaust and Diablo chip, my mileage is up about 2-3 mpg in my Ranger. I have a pic in my gallery of the intake.
The site suggest wrapping the headers as well as the air intake. Where are the headers in a PSD 6.0L how can I ID it? This is the first time I have actually poked around under the hood of my truck.
Has any one been able to find this tape online? I do not have any dealers within 100 miles according to their web site and they do not appear to sell them online.
