The newer, fuel injected OBD II Ford trucks have a top speed governor. Normally they're set at around 94-96 mph. I've hit the governor in my E-150 but haven't been able to find it in my E-350 V-10 because once I get to 100-ish mph my sanity takes over and I back it off. But the sensation you describe sounds exactly like the governor. But it shouldn't hit at 75, unless you're bumping up against the rev limiter, which is different than the speed limiter. What year, what engine, tranny, rear end gears, etc ?
My van is a 93 e350 club wagon with 3:56 rear end automatic overdrive trans. and a 351 windsor, thanks for the reply's ,I believe you are right about the governor because the van run excellant all the time!
DEpending on the year ('01) you should be able to use a "tuner" to remove that pesky governer.. MY 92 E150 w/351 will run well over 120mph so unless yours is an ex-fleet truck then I'd be worried.
Current fleet truck, they are an embarressment to the name. Unfortunately, the only van that we have had that was fast was a dodge. Somebody pulled the govner er sumthin I spose,... but anyway that thing would get up and skit. I wish the fords(that we have) did that. lol
