AC on all the time>>>

04 F250 6.0PSD...

Ive had fits since new with a belt squeel... Ive had numerous belts replaced and tensioner and idler pullies and nothing has ever fixed it for lonnger than a week.. Now that its actualy warm out I noticed that the AC is Always ON I had the VENT only on this morning and noticed COLD AIR... so I turned the AC on and everything stayed the same... .. no matter where you turn the **** the AC is pumping away... So Im assuming BAD AC clutch... question is could this be the cause of my squeak squeak squeak as well.... Im really strating to have buyers remorse on this thing..

I cant believe Im in lemon law territory over the problems Ive had so far...UGH!!!

I would say Yes. If you have a bad AC Clutch it will work against the belt. Looks like another trip to the dealer should clear it up. Get a second opinion from an auto AC shop also.

Mine compressor was running all the time also. I thought it was a feature After having cycled from vent to a/c several times over the first 1000 miles it started working properly. I crawled up under it and had someone switch from vent to a/c several times and watched the compressor clutch lock and unlock as it should.

No I mean I have AC on weather I want it on or not....So if I turn the thing to vent or heat the Compressor is still cycling like I want AC...So if I put it on VENT and have the temp selector in just into the red it BLOWS the same cold air as if I switch from vent to AIR conditioning leaving it in the same position..

Going into the dealer thursday for belt squeel and this again... Another few days of driving the loaner escort...LOL

Maybe ford wants it on in some settings but I cant see a reason why they would have it on when Ive got the dial turned to the red section.. that makes no sense...Not turned to AC and pointing in red = no reason to have the compressor cycling in my book.... But maybe its a ford thing...If thats the case I better deactivate the HEATER they installed in my intercooler as well....LOL....

I looked into this quite a bit when my comprrssor clutch stayed locked up. It should only lock in MAX A/C, Normal A/C, and Defrost. I didn't think to ask about the heater. Regardless of the temperature selector setting the compressor will run although it may cycle depending on cabin temperature.

My 2004 had the sqeal also. I never took it in to determine what it was, however the ac being on/off had no effect. after about 2900 miles it stopped. Thank god, it was driving me insane.

Sorry guys, the 6.0L PSD uses the PCM to control A/C clutch switching, and has power to the relay in all positions except off!

Surely you are not saying the clutch should stay locked up (on) in all postions except off are you? Mine was staying locked but now seems to be working correctly. Only locks in A/C norm, A/C max, and defrost. So is mine broken? TIA

Properly operating systems will have the clutch engaged in MAX, NORM, and DEFROST. The A/C clutch relay is powered with key on, the PCM controls switching, based on selector settings. Malfunctioning selector input leads to PCM default control on.
Belt noise revision....late second quarter.
