About the only Caterpillar that you will fit in a SuperDuty Chassis is a 3208. Even that will require a bigger shoehorn, and wallet than most will afford. 3126, and 3116 Cats are Class 7 engines...way too much for a 1-ton. B-series Cummins(like the Dodge) have been swapped into Ford pickups. I forget the name of the guy who did it on here. I've also seen 6V-53 Detroits put into older high-boys.
Even the 3208 is a class 7 engine with a much larger envelope than a 3116. Heck, even the ISB is used in class 6 and small 7 chassis. I've seen alot of Perkins diesels retrofitted into P/U chassis. One of my ambitions is to stuff a D5 Volvo engine into a Ford chassis. They are nice and small and should fit nicely in a F150.
