Purchased replacement bearings for the 65 that are housed in the steering column. Checked the owners manual, and the Ford Truck assembly manual and there is not mention of steering column. Thought before do something i am going to regret, would check and see if any other members have done it. If requires press fits beyond what is required replacing wheel bearings, will leave well enough alone.
Using pic in Ford part supplier's catalog for assembling the column. Sad commentary for the Owner's Manual, and Ford Truck Assembly Manual. Was trying to fiqure out how to remove the bearings. Came across an extra column and the bearings are in good shape. Looks like requires a shop press. Look into replacing bearings at later date.
Mark, you can purchase the bearing thru majority of the Ford parts suppliers, online or catalog. If you only need the bearing you can get thru Autokrafter. Autokrafter has a pic of bearing in their online catalog. If you need other column componets may want to go to Dennis Carpenter, Or John's F100 (f100.com). Their online catalogs will display pics of the column and components with corresponding p/n. Could not find the column bearing in Autozone catalog. Lmc trucks also has the bearing and other column components but if you don't have their catalog i find it difficult finding parts online. Could also go to the above supplier's web site and get their 800 #. Run about $3-$5.
Hope this helps,
dave
