Question about the in dash lights
Well, I noticed today that my BRAKE warning light doesn't come on when I apply the parking brake. I took the instrument cluster apart and sure enough, the bulb was blown. No problem. Then I noticed there are only three bulbs in my warning light cluster, they correspond to "seatbelt guy" "BRAKE" and "EMISS", with open spots corresponding to "4x4", "Low Range", "ABS", "LOW OIL" and "CHECK ENGINE".
My truck is a 2x4, and doesn't have ABS. But shouldn't I have a bulb for "LOW OIL" and "CHECK ENGINE"? the slots reserved for these bulbs are covered from behind by what I believe is the circuit board (haven't been able to get to the backside as I can't disengage the spedo wire).
Is this normal?

Thanks.

Oh, and it still has the factory stereo.
Not sure about the "low oil" light, though. Could be that it also was not available as a feature until a few years later.
I'm curious, did your "EMISS" light come on automatically at 60K (or 100K)?
My bad, I looked at it again and it wasn't a "Low Oil" light, it's a "Water in Fuel" light. And it probably wasn't available yet.
The "EMISS" light has never come on. I checked the bulb last night and it's good. I've had the truck since 90K, it's got 111k now. And I don't recall my father-in-law (0 - 90K) ever having trouble with the EMISS light.
Thanks for the answer Rockledge!
