Before I watched it tons of people told me it was soooooo crazy and gory and all this stuff. I watched it and jumped a little bit 1 time. The rest of the time I was like...woo... All in all, I liked the movie a lot, but it wasn't as scary as the original.
As a fan of the 1st TCM I'm not big on the new version. It was too different from the original and not any scarier. I heard all the hoopla about the new one being so gory and yada, yada, yada but I just wasn't that impressed.
i watched it awhile ago. heard from some friends that "o yeah, its scary...its gory, lots of blood." that was a bunch of BS. i never even flinched watching it. i laughed most of the time. specially when leatherface killed the chainsaw. :P
Texas Chansaw Massacre now joins the ranks of bad remakes that don't live up to the original.
Heavy Metal 2000
Gone in 60 Seconds
Planet of the Apes
Texas Chansaw Massacre
All bad remakes.
Maybe they shoud just put the original TCM back in theatres for another run. It worked for the Exorcist. heck the Exorcist made more money in theatres the second time then it did the first time in theatres.

Frankly, Excorist was boring to me. I love horror movies, but it just wasn't all that scary like people say. The original TCM was better than the remake, it didn't need the gore that the new one did to be scary. The remake of Gone was good, especially for all the cars and Elenor. All in all, the new TCM wasn't all that great, give me the original 1974 Toby Hooper version anytime.
i love the 2003 TCM. to me, the original was too corny, but since it was really before my time it would be hard for me to take a liking to it. in the 2003 TCM R. Lee Ermy ( one of my favorite actors ) played an awesome role as the sherrif, and i thought all the other actors were very good. maybe its just an age thing? like, do older people like the original and younger people prefer the 2003 TCM ? everyone i know my age likes it.
I don't think it's all an age thing. I'm 23, and only saw the original TCM only about 3-4 yrs ago. I just don't think you need all the gore and blood to make something scary.
I just rented it last night, what a waste of money! It was craptacular!
I did like the sherrif part, just because he was a real a-hole!
The only part of it that was anywhere close to good was the wet t-shirt part!
Why is it that the girl with the biggest ***** always ends up the hero
It was right up there with House of the Dead and House of 1000 Corpses
