winter oil change

I went to the local autozone today to get some 10w30 for the winter. I have been using delo 400 15w40 since new. I now have about 12000 miles on my truck. I noticed that both delo and rotella come in sae 30, it seems to meet the specs for the psd, is this the same as 10w30? what is the difference? Is the switch to a lighter grade even needed for eastern mass winters? what do you all think? thanks alot, I appreciate it.

Do not switch to 30 in the winter, way too thick cold. It is not the same as 10W30. You can get 5W40 Rotella Synthetic at WalMart or truck stops if it gets near or below zero where you live. Otherwise, stay with the 15W40.
