I saw a mod from SKY manufacturing that inverted the rear shackels... better articulation and a couple inches of lift in the back. was thinking of this and removing my add-a-leaf. Any ideas?
No problems. I just would like to increase articulation to try and keep both wheels on the ground. My wife does not like the idea of lockers, says they would just get me in trouble. Maybe she is right? Anyway I like being mostly stock and haveing people tell me "you can't take that truck there it's to BIG" and usally proving them wrong.
how does turning over a 2 to 3 inch shackle over give five inches of lift. it should only give have the total change in lenght as only bask side of spring is changing. if i take out the add-a-leaf i thing i should be in about the same place.
i just finished my poor man's lift in the fronf(4"),and now im headed to the rear, and plan on doing a shackel flip, and a hanger change.I took the hanger's from the front of a rear spring setup of a 1975 F-150,and plan to use them in the rear of the rear spring's on the Bronco.I will be starting this project tomarow, and will Take dome pic.'s of ride hight befor, and after.
Well after lifting the front 4"'s i took it off the Jack stand's today so I could start the rear, and it turn's out I got 5.5-6" of lift in the front!Im a very happy man at this point.EVERY part under the front end is new,and the wife feel's safe in it!
I have the Sky man shackle flip on the rear of my bronco. They are well worth the money. I got about 4.5 inches of lift, It rides better, you get more articulation, and the way it moves your spring it will self correct your pinion angle.
My opinion is too forget the F-250 hangers. these things are much beefier.
If you do the shackle flip be prepared to drop the gas tank to get to the back of the frame to put the nuts on.
I have a 3" body lift so it might be too tight without it but I was able to disconnect the top gastank straps and jack it up enough to get to the bolts and there seemed to be lots of room over the tank still so you may be ok if ya find a helper with small hands(an extra elbow would be nice sometimes too)
ive worked in 2 Spring Shop's,and have replaced "LOT'S" of front/rear hanger's,so no problem with getting at bolt's.Ive had to tape nut's to a peice of tie wire, and lock washer, and fish them in tight tight spot's,but befor I start the rear I come to notice that I have a vibration in the rear that was not their befor I lifted the front??????.
DID you replace tires?? if so check your wheel balance. If not I am not sure nothing up front should affect the pinion angle or anything in the rear, so nothing comes to mind give me more details on what all you did and when you feel the vibration...I.E. during acceleration, at cruising speed when slowing down, or is it all of the time???
I added some 4" lift coil's,alll 4 shock's up front, trackarm lowering bracket,EVERY bushing uo front with poly's from JBG,and drop pitman arm.No new tire's.The vibration used to be their if I was on the Bronco hard doing over 70mph,but it was fant, and would come, and go while the vib. was their. Now it's their above 45mph.I hardley drive the Bronco, and when I do it's all around town.No highway's.All rear U-joint's have been done, and the shaft was balanced afterward's.The vib is defantaly coming from the rear drive shaft. If I put my hand on the rear floor i can feel it,and I can make it go away by slowing down to about 40=45mph.
