to sipe or not

I am getting BFG MTs 32x11.50 for my Bronco and am trying to find out if siping them is worth-while. Any advice would be helpfull. Thanks.

siping is the process of cutting the tread blocks across the width of the tire. It is suposed to increase traction and tire life?

Thumbs up Sipe'm, baby!!

I had the tires on my 95 Bronco XL siped (living in Northern Idaho, you really can't do without at least siping, preferably chains, in winter!). It didn't really seem to affect tire life one way or another, but it made a HUGE difference when I drove in rain and on ice and snow! Well worth it, IMHO.

What conditions are you normally driving in? If it's a lot of rain or snow, then it might be a good idea. Something to watch out for is not getting the siping too deep. I had it done on some mud radials, and although it did provide more grip, the tread corners chunked off. Maybe there's only one setting on the machine, I don't know. But if I do it again, I'm doing it myself.

I have "Siped" tires on 3 of my vehicles and I like it. You'll get better stopping, accelleration, and better traction too!

I would recommend it.

I meant "on-road grip" I don't think it matters in thick mud

Thanks all. mostly looking for better rock traction here in CO. As this is my toy I try not to put a lot of road miles on it... way TOO much gas.

I would definitely get them siped I don't know of any negatives except minor chunking(very minor) and there are many positives. Why would you want to sipe them yourself when it costs about $10 each to have it done. there's no way you could do as good of a job and it would take forever to do it yourself.

32-11.50 BFG MTs got um siped have not yet had a chance to play on the rocks (to much snow). What I havce noticed is there is very little noise from the tires have heard that that is a bi-product of siping. if it is it mkes it worth the $$$ when driving w/out a top which is allways since I got the softtop.
