I have a 94 Ranger 3.0,Auto,electronic 4x4,manual hubs. My problem is that my truck won't go into 4wd, no dash lights (switch is new from dealer), i have taken the electric shift motor off and cleaned it as was mentioned on another web site, fuses are good. I have seen somewhere that there is a test that can be proformed at the control mod but can't seem to find it again. Can anyone please help?
I dont have info on 4X4 problem but I did see your other post reguarding your EGR valve,Be sure to poke out the SMALL hole at the BOTTOM of the big hole under the EGR valve, This gets clogged and needs to be poked out with a stiff piece of wire then a pipe cleaner or something.this hole being plugged up will give code 401, insuffecient flow.
hate to say it, but soudns like a bad transfer case, did u make sure all of ur connections are clean and stuff, made sure you put the e shift motor in correctly??
I had similar problems. Put in a new motor and still nothing. Switch checked out fine. I unplugged the control module (GEM) plugged it back in and everything works pefectly now. The GEM is located behind the dash to the left of the radio. Just pull off the radio cosole and you'll see it.
