Lost Over Drive
Hi folks, i've got a slight problem and i dont know forsure if the Tranny has gone south or if something else is wrong. Truck is a 91 F150 302 Automatic Tranny. I had my transmission rebuilt about 20 thousand miles ago and it was running great until last night. I was on my way home and i hear a loud clunk and lost OD. I could shift down to second and it's there, however, it is starting out in second rather than 1st like it used to. I then pushed the OD button and found out i do have drive and 2nd, however, it's always slow to accelerate which i'm assuming is due to it starting in second. I made it into work today but noticed up around 60 mph it starts making a knocking noise almost like it's out of oil. (Oil is full and tranny fluid is clean and full) It runs good and sounds good right around 40 to 55 mph until i stop again or go speed up to around 60. Any help you could offer would be great. I'd like to think it's not the tranny because it has never slipped since the rebuild but i dont know much about tranny's needless to say that's why i'm asking you fine folks. I appreciate the help!
