antifreeze leak
I am about to purchase a 91 Ranger XLT-There is a small plastic hose attached to the heater hose that goes around the motor and it is busted and all the antifreeze pours put-Any idea what this hoes does and can it be temporarily bypassed to get the truck home?

You should be able to bypass it by plugging it or connecting the two heater hoses together. Pull one off the heater core connection and the other heater hose off the engine connection. Then connect the one from the heater core to the engine. This will bypass the heater until you figure out what the plastic hose does. In general, plastic is not used for coolant since the temperature of the coolant (200-240F) makes most plastic too soft.

well if its a manual it has no ties to the cooling system..... how small is the tubing?
NOT SURE on this one..... but most other cars have a small coolant hose that goes to the throttle body...... can you trace it up?
