A loud THUD
Hey guys. I have a 01 Ranger 4x4 SC with the 4.0. Lately I've noticed that when i start up my truck it makes a loud thud noise from the passanger side. Nothing seems to be wrong with the truck, still has the same get up and go and milage. No lights on the dash either. Just wanted to know if i should be concerned or if it's something just starting up. Thanks.

It's probably the a/c compressor engaging. They're known for having a rough engagement. The compressor will come on if the climate control **** is on a/c, max a/c, defrost, or feet&face vents. It will not engage if it is off, or on feet alone, of face vents alone. Try starting with the climate control **** set to 'off'.

The climate control blend air door requires vacuum to operate. When you start the engine, vacuum causes the door to position itself to what ever door selection you have on the air distribution selection.
